SharePoint 2016 Beta 2 – what’s new?

Last month Microsoft released SharePoint Server 2016 Beta 2. Let’s see what’s inside this build!

The installation image is available on Microsoft Download Center site with 180-day trial key.

The installation process is similar to the IT Preview version (see the detailed post).

Please note that you cannot upgrade IT Preview version to Beta 2!

What’s new
  • Support for Microsoft Identity Manager 2016
SharePoint 2016 no longer uses Forefront Identity Manager client – the default solution is Active Directory Import. In Beta 2 we can use Microsoft Identity Manager for bi-directional synchronization scenarios.
  • Data Loss Prevention
Enhanced support for DLP policies that helps you secure senstitive information hosted on SharePoint sites.
  • Extensible Hybrid App Launcher
It is a seamless navigation experience between SharePoint Server 2016 and Office 365. The Extensible Hybrid App Launcher displays Office 365 Delve, Video and custom tiles from your O365 on SharePoint Server.
  • Profile Redirection
Profiles for all hybrid users are stored in Office 365 and hybrid users from on-premise will be redirected to their Delve profiles in Office 365.
