InfoPath is here to stay

InfopathIt looks like something rose from the dead.

As SharePoint MVP Vlad Catrinescu noticed on his blog, Microsoft had updated the blog post on the future of InfoPath and SharePoint Forms. Specifcally, InfoPath Forms Services WILL still be included in SharePoint 2016 and supported by Office 365 until further notice, although no longer developed.

This might mean Microsoft programmers were not able to finish InfoPath replacements promised earlier on time. Specifically, Forms on SharePoint List, which were supposed to work both in SharePoint on-prem and Office 365, changed their official status to “cancelled”, meaning they are at least indefinitely delayed, if not completely shelved. So it looks like we need to stick to InfoPath for the time being.

The InfoPath funeral might have been epic but certainly was premature.
